Wallace Redd - City Council

On Monday March 31, we held another Ward/Community meeting. Thanks to everyone who took the time to attend. We discussed the burned out house on Roselawn. I have contacted Jim Pillows the director of the Building and Codes and he stated to me that a hearing has taken place concerning this property. It will be about another 90 days before the house can be taken down. I will keep a close eye on this problem and keep everyone informed on this issue.

We also discussed skate boarding in the streets around the Donna Dr area. I've talked to Deputy Chief Frankie Grey and he will inform patrol units to keep and eye on this problem.

I would like to thank Council Lady Deanna McLaughlin for attending our Ward meeting. Deanna is a great asset to our City and we appreciate her service and the great amount of time she spends making Clarksville a better place to live. Deanna informed us that Saturday April 12th will be the great American clean up and she and others will be cleaning up here in North Clarksville. If anyone is interested in helping out please give me a call or email.

Other topics at our meeting included.

That's all for now. If you have any questions or concerns about the above topics or anything else just go to the contact page and call or email me.

Our next meeting will be Monday June 2nd starting at 6:00 P.M. at the Kleeman Community Center on Cunningham Ln.

Thanks

Wallace

On Monday February 4th, we held another Ward/Community meeting. I would like to thank everyone who took time to attend. We had a wide array of subjects during the question and comment period that are listed here. Next week I will be researching more on some of these issues and contacting the city's departments heads to fix the situation. When I ask all those present it was decided in the future to only have the Council member and not department heads to answer questions.

Update February 25. Below in bold are the responses from the department head

  1. Why is Rocky Hill Rd a one way where it connects to Dotsonville Rd?
  2. Why are there so many yard sale fliers on telephone poles around Roselawn?
  3. Can we have a city wide newsletter?
  4. What is being done about Burchett park and other parks ie. vandals older children gangs etc?
  5. How can New Providence be cleaned up?
  6. Why did it take so long for the building and codes to pick up an old couch on Roselawn?
  7. The rock quarry and blasting.
  8. Potholes on Roselawn.
  9. Dogs running at large around Skyview Circle.
  10. A business around Woodale Dr.
  11. The city's Redevelopment plan.
  12. Discussion on side walks.

1. The Street Department director David Shepard states, Rocky Hill Rd was made a one way street due to insufficient road width. The road is too narrow for two way traffic.

2. The Building and Codes informed me they are keeping an eye our and taking down any fliers they see.

3. Communications Director Missy Gram has informed me that a City wide newsletter in planed for the future.

4. We are in the process of placing security camera's in some of the parks including Burchett park.

5. Tracy Wallace the Codes Enforcement officer has sent me a report about New Providence the building and codes has worked over 100 cases and are still working many more. I will snail mail the full report to all attending our Ward meeting or anyone requesting one.

6. The Building and Codes did not find a couch on Roselawn or yard sale signs but will continue to monitor this area.

7. The rock quarry will continue to be monitored and I will have more information on this later.

8. David Shepard states, the potholes on Roselawn have been repaired and they will continue to monitor them throughout the winter.

9. I have called this in to the county.

10. Codes Enforcement Mike Seguin states, On 2-05-08 I self initiated a business being ran at -- Woodale Dr. As I was driving the the area I noticed the violation and addressed the owner at the time, he took down the banner while I was on site and was removing the clay pots that were openly stored, he now sells them at their business on Ft. Campbell Blvd across from gate 4.

11. Below are the tentative dates regarding the redevelopment plan. These may be subject to change call me 647-8965 or check the web site for updates.

12. Any proposals in the future concerning sidewalks I will post on the website and write those on my snail mail list.

Thanks again to everyone who attended our Ward meeting. March 31 will be our next meeting starting at 6:30 at the Kleeman Community Center.
